Wellness Has Lost the Plot—Here’s How to Get It Back

Wellness Has Lost the Plot—Here’s How to Get It Back

🚨 Breaking news: Your flat white is not killing you. I repeat—your coffee is safe. Stand down.

This comes straight from the wellness queen herself, Ella Mills (Deliciously Ella). In a recent Times interview, she called out the sheer ridiculousness of modern wellness trends.

Apparently, if you’re not eating 12 raw eggs and dunking yourself in an ice bath before dawn, you’re failing at health.

I have questions:

  • Who exactly is out here eating raw eggs for fun?
  • Does this mean I have to break up with my oat flat white?
  • Why must we suffer before sunrise?

As someone who’s been on my own wellness journey for many years due to auto-immune illnesses I feel this deeply. It’s time we took a step back and asked:

Wellness Has Lost the Plot—Here’s How to Get It Back

The Wellness Industry’s Problem: Extremes Over Balance

Wellness is supposed to be about feeling good—but lately, it feels more like a full-time job.

Between the 5 AM workouts, the biohacking trends, and the endless food rules, it’s no wonder people feel overwhelmed.

Let’s talk facts:
📉 1 in 4 adults still don’t get their five-a-day.
🥖 90% of people don’t eat enough fibre.
🍔 For 1 in 5 people, 80% of their calories come from ultra-processed foods.

So why are we obsessing over ice baths and raw eggs when most of us just need to find a sustainable way to eat and move that actually fits real life?

This is where common-sense wellness needs to make a comeback.

A More Realistic Approach to Wellness

Instead of chasing impossible standards, how about we focus on what actually works?

  • Eat real food—but don’t stress over perfection. That oat milk latte and pastry are fine.
  • Move your body—but in ways that feel good, not punishing.
  • Wear clothes that fit your life, not just your Instagram aesthetic. (Which is exactly why I started Single Swan, but more on that in a sec.)

The truth is, wellness shouldn’t feel like an exclusive club. You don’t need a cryotherapy membership or a 12-step morning routine that takes 3 hours.

You need a lifestyle that lasts.

The Future of Wellness is Sustainable—In Every Sense

That’s why I created Single Swan—a wellness-focused clothing brand designed for real people with real lives.

breathable fabrics—because fast fashion is as bad for you as ultra-processed food.
Timeless designs—so your wardrobe lasts longer than the latest health trend.
Clothing made to move with you—from yoga to coffee runs (flat white in hand, obviously).

Because true wellness isn’t about extremes—it’s about balance, longevity, and feeling great in your own skin. It's about feeling happy.
